Dudes, I have a cold. Which is kind of awful, but also has a silver lining of awesome because it’s the first time in 18+ months that I’ve had a cold and haven’t been pregnant or nursing. For the uninitiated, your options for medication when you’re pregnant or nursing are tylenol and banging your head against a brick wall. Neither of them work very well. So I am hugging and kissing the Nyquil and Dayquil, even though having a cold sucks. Also, I am going to abruptly stop blogging the minute the cold meds kick in. You’re warned.
I’ve spent the last few days saying things like “Where did you get that pen?” and “This isn’t a safe place for babies to play” and “Maybe a shoe isn’t the nicest thing to chew on” I THOUGHT we babyproofed, but crawling baby Derek has taught me that we have only skimmed the surface of THINGS THAT KILL BABIES in our house.
ANYWAY. Saturday was Aryln & Ellery’s wedding. You all know Arlyn as the lady who crotcheted me a penis as a wedding RSVP. The girl is TALENTED and has been focusing that talent into her wedding planning for the past year. It was amazing. Very fun and casual, and a very good reflection of their personalities. Also, they had a photo booth.
Dana babysat for us, which is the first time I’ve left him with non-family. She is awesome and was super sweet to him all night, even though he was a bit of a bugger and wouldn’t go to sleep for her.
Sunday afternoon, Sherry flew in with Briella to visit us for the week. We’ve been mostly hanging out, but managed a trip to meet Aidan at Locarno Beach. It was unfortunately cut short by baby meltdowns (both Briella and Derek), but hopefully we can hook up with her again later this week for a better visit.
Matthew is not a fan of green beans.
Getting a baby picture with two babies is surprisingly challenging. Derek is all “WHY WOULD I SIT HERE WHEN I CAN CRAWL NOW!!?!?!?!!” Briella is confused.
Anyway, today we decided to go out for lunch, then last minute decided we’d check out Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium. Fun day.
Briella is 99% sweet little angel who follows directions and blows kisses and likes to read stories. She’s also 1% screaming tantrum queen, and when she screams, the whole city can hear. She’s not a bad girl by any stretch of the imagination, she’s just 1 with REALLY good lungs. Anyway, she was tired and hungry and ready to go home by the time we left and started a screaming tantrum on the way home (totally understandable for a 1 year old), but the look on Derek’s face was pretty priceless. She was sitting next time him (he’s rearfacing, she’s forward facing) and just looking at her like “WTF is wrong with you? Chill out and have a car nap” I’m HOPING that means he’s decided that tantrums are stupid and will never ever throw one. That can happen, right?
